Sure, the Angel family is without doubt a very eccentric family to say the last and their whole situation is on the border of fantastical, but it IS an entertaining read with a surprising ending. ![]() James Patterson and Maxine Paetro use an unreliable narrator to tell the story of the mystery around the double murder of the Angel parents, but do so without it becoming annoying. I simply flew through the pages of this book as always his stories are more than entertaining. ![]() John doesn't actually die at the end, but the end of the book is where the reader learns that Dave is dead. At the end, Monster Dave learns he's a clone and that he probably killed the real Dave. But as John is the most common first name in the world it couldn't hurt to use that for the name of his companion. ![]() He changed his last name to Wong to try to gain anonymity, but keeping John as his first name would have nullified this attempt, as he would have been the only person with the name John Wong. John Dies at the End is called that because Dave's real name was John. Did you know John was the most common first name in the world? And yet there's not a single person named John Wong."' You know Wong is the most common surname in the world?"' ![]() ![]() ![]() Now here is the bit that was kind of tagged on to the story and is seen as not needed by many. This is when Eliza tells the rest of the gang what happened to her. Eliza tells Zuzanna and Mik of another portal and they return to Eretz in time for celebrations. She is not hopeful though as she wasn’t sure that she done it right and gleaned his soul into a bottle instead of a thurible but both Liraz and Karou and glad to realise that it worked and he is resurrected from a piece of his body that Karou took from his original body. ![]() ![]() Liraz managed to convert the rest of Jael’s forces over to their side and thus Jael is imprisoned, Liraz was very busy it seems because she also managed to save Ziri’s soul and gleaned it from Thiago’s body. Thinking that Jael’s soldiers have won, they feel grief and hurt for all those that have been lost, but it is eventually revealed that it was a disguise so that if Jael had come through victorious, he would not question a thing. Akiva and Karou find a portal that was not destroyed and fly through it back to Eretz and find Thiagos body hanging with it desecrated. She tells them of the story of how she came to earth and the creation of Eretz. ![]() Whilst that is going on, Zuzanna and Mik wish for Eliza to become her best possible self and she regains her memories as Elazael and becomes a seraphim once again in front of their eyes. ![]() ![]() (Hence the title for the book, of course!) They Meredith kids make friends with the Blythes and spend many happy hours playing in their magical playground which they have named Rainbow Valley. They are "basically good" children who have a knack for trouble to spite themselves and their poor neglectful father. Tongues are wagging all over Ingleside as the Meredith children get into one scrap after another - in typical Anne style. Their father is a the new minister and widower who seldom takes notice of his four children. The majority of the story highlights the Meredith family who are new to Ingleside. Anne and Gilbert are proud parents to six little ones, only four of which are really featured in this particular volume. We find Anne removed from the scene (and Gilbert only has one line! Gasp!) and her children romping about and playing with the new minister's children, the Merediths. Blythe by the focal characters in this tale. It's true, Anne makes periodic appearances in this book and is mostly referenced as Mrs. However, this time I really enjoyed reading Rainbow Valley which is the seventh book in the series. I've always been vastly more interested in Anne as the subject. After Anne of Ingleside, the story strays away from Anne and focuses on her children and their playmates. ![]() In the past, I've always faded away from reading the concluding books in the Anne series.
