Sprott-Shaw has been helping students get trained for over 108 years. The Wombaloo is a story about a misunderstood monster that appears to be scary, but deep inside he has a cushy, friendly personality that just wants to find friends. Maulie’s Pocket teaches a great lesson to children who develop a habit of taking things that don’t belong to them, without honestly understanding that it is wrong-an affliction VanKoughnett said she had as a child. The former ECE student has two books to her credit, “Maulie’s Pocket” and “The Wombaloo.” Both are available at. “Without them I would never have started, and I’ll always remember their kindness.” “I’d like to express my everlasting gratitude to the Instructors in Early Childhood Education at the Sprott-Shaw Community College in New Westminster, BC who encouraged me to push forward with my work in children literature, and express these talents,” said former ECE student Carla VanKoughnett, in the dedication of the book The Wombaloo. The staff and instructors at Sprott-Shaw Community College were excited enough when one of their Early Childhood Education (ECE) students published a book-they were even more excited to see a book was dedicated to them. Carla ECE grad from New West published two children’s books.
